Couples & Family Therapy

I think of my therapy practice as a place that helps my clients realize “real world” effects. To me this means that our therapy leads to your increased satisfaction in your relationships, a better understanding of how your life experiences have shaped you, and a stronger sense of your own autonomy. For you to make changes in your life when and however you wish.

The capacity to derive comfort from another is the single biggest predictor of whether people are able to heal.”

Couples Therapy

Through my training and work with the PAIRS approach to couples therapy, I have learned to think of the primary “client” in couples therapy as the relationship itself. This requires our therapy to be a safe place for individual expression, as well as a place where a couple can reconsider and explore new ways of relating that strengthen their bond. Themes we may explore include any and all aspects of couples relationships such as communication, intimacy, parenting, step-parenting, pre-marital counselimg, financial issues, aging, and the challenges of maintaining a committed relationship over time.

Family Therapy

As a family therapist trained in the Eco-systemic model, my family therapy attends to issues such as family developmental stages, effective communication systems, an established and trustworthy heirarchy, and an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance. Family therapy is devoted to these and other themes in relation to the specific concerns that family members may express.

I strive to understand each family member’s challenges and dilemmas and to create and maintain an atmosphere of trust so that each session is experienced as a place where one is heard, understood and supported.
